A CASUAL INTRODUCTION IS HARD TO COME BY

Okay Kenedi To Release Debut Record On October 20th 2023

Okay Kenedi is set to release her anticipated debut record A Casual Introduction Is Hard To Come By alongside DCBA and Ivy Manor Music Group in Muscle Shoals, Alabama this fall. The 11 track record flirts with various genres but relies heavily on pop/rock and alternative influences. Produced by Dan Hannon (Manchester Orchestra, Julien Baker, Paris Jackson), the collection puts the new artist on display by drawing attention to her musical diversity and songwriting.

The artist made her official launch early this year with her single “Young, Dumb, & Naive,” a high-energy lament for the thrill of young ignorance. She followed the single in the spring with a more edgy alt-rock sound in “Dress Better.” Her first ballad, “1 Birthday Behind,” grieves a lost relationship over a pure indie/alternative sound which was followed shortly by the ethereal track, “Pharmacy.” The final single preceding the release of her album, “Fathers Want Sons,” releases October 6th and is widely expected to be her biggest song yet. All 5 singles will be featured on the debut record.

Okay Kenedi wrapped up a small summer tour this September in anticipation for her album release. The Atlanta-based singer has spent the year playing around the southeast, collecting new fans wherever she goes. She is noted for having a commanding charisma on stage and connecting with listeners on an intimate level largely due to the nature of her songwriting. Michael Shane Wright, Executive Producer and Founder of Ivy Manor Music Group praises the artist by saying, “Okay has perfected the art of telling the truth - and it’s not the modern notion of “her” truth. She speaks “the truth” - often times with little concern for the consequence. She will not let us pretend that the emperor is clothed.” Perhaps the most whimsical summary of the artist is simply, “Kenedi is more than just okay.” (Emma Tanner, Managing Editor, The Flor-Ala).
